Samantha Morgan's husband had a secret.
One that was revealed only after his death.
One that left her more angry than heartbroken.
One that led her to historic Mackinac Island in upstate Michigan.
To a dark house with a dark past. . . And haunted by a dark ghost.

Although there were other cottages nearby that were just as grand, there was something about Shadowbrook that demanded one's attention.
It was a Victorian architectural masterpiece that rightly deserved to be called a Manor.

Inspiration for novel:

The island itself. The moment I set eyes on Mackinac Island, I fell in love with it. I knew, immediately, I would write a romantic ghost tale that would be set on the quaint little isle; using its rich history and unique character as the skeleton to my story.

Fun Fact:

I Loved the 1980s movie "Somewhere in Time" so much that I dragged my husband, kicking and screaming, to Mackinac Island to stay at the Grand Hotel.

The Gran Hotel
Trivia: Mackinac is pronounced "Mackinaw". Early Native Americans thought the island's shape resembled the back of a turtle and so they named it "Michilimackinac", which means Land of the Great Turtle.
Fun Fact: Due to Lake Michigan flooding that year, we were directed onto a detour that sent us hours out of our way. And since there was no refunds extended at the hotel, we had no choice but to speed the last two hundred miles of the drive to make it to the dock on time to catch the last ferry of the day. Long story, short, we reached the ferry with a whole five minutes to spare and when we checked into the hotel, guess what room we were given? . . . The Somewhere in Time Suite.
Trivia: In the Richard Matheson science fiction novel, "Bid Time Return", the story was actually set at the famous San Diego Hotel, The del Coronado. However, the title was changed to "Somehwere in Time" and the movie adaptation was filmed at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in 1980. The movie starred Jane Seymour, Christopher Reeve and Christopher Plummer.
Funny Fact: My husband ended up loving the island so much, he was the one who suggested we stay an extra day.
